Holy Trinity CE Primary Academy VE Day 2025
On 8th May 2025, we marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day joining a powerful nationwide school event with over 100,000 primary school children. Featuring unseen VE Day photos and a 108-year-old veteran’s story, the assembly honoured those who sacrificed themselves for freedom. Children heard inspiring messages from veterans, historians, evacuees and the work of refuge charities. Y6 children reflected on resilience, unity and gratitude with their own thoughtful and inspiring readings remembering the past and to protect peace. Beautiful singing was accompanied by our school musicians and a joyful celebration lunch bought us together again. Every class chose an aspect of the Victory in Europe to explore further, with Sarum focussing on poems for the Sanctuary Foundation ‘Let’s Build Empathy’ - No Place Like Home project. https://sanctuaryfoundation.org.uk/art/.
