National Storytelling Week

This week we have been immersed in National Storytelling Week. The theme this year has been to “reimagine your world”. We live streamed authors into school and joined hundreds of schools across the UK for book chat and shared stories.

Stonehenge began the week by reading the book ‘Our Tower’ by Joseph Coelho a story to inspire children to imagine the world in a different way. Next we created ‘magic stones’ to take on an adventure around the school grounds. We used our magic stones to find secret hidden doors that took us to faraway lands. They then attended the live workshop with Joseph Coelho before telling their adventures to each other and writing or drawing about the magical places they had been.

We were also thrilled to welcome members of our wider school community to share a story in school this afternoon. Thank you to everyone who got involved – Year 6 reading leaders, staff, families, students from Dauntseys, Ian with his Guide Dog and every child – a wonderful week!
