Guide Dogs
This week a team from Guide Dogs visited our school to deliver workshops to Stonehenge, White Horse and Sarum classes. Rea, a trained working dog joined in this wonderful experience as children learned more about the special bond of trust and loyalty, and the vital role guide dogs play in supporting independence. Children used a range of resources and activities to explore senses in small groups - what it is like to be visually impaired using VI adapted glasses for children to wear, an obstacle course in the hall guiding a friend, choosing food for supper and a coin sorting exercise, then writing their names using braille sheets.
Guide Dogs is a school council chosen charity, working to inform and raise awareness of this life enhancing work. All these visits to school are free, and If you would like to make a donation, there is charity collection box in the school office for children to add their small change.
