Cross Country Sports Report
Last Friday, four teams competed in the annual cross country at Dauntsey’s School. I am pleased to share the sports report detailing individual and team performances.
In the year 3 and 4 girls event, thirty girls competed. All five Holy Trinity girls came in the top 8 and comfortably won the team competition. Orlaith ran superbly to win the race as did Elizabeth who claimed 2nd, Matilda 3rd, Olivia 6th and Audrey 8th.
Next up were the year 3 and 4 boys. All the boys performed well in the field of forty runners. Theo came 3rd, Thomas 5th, Harry 8th, Robert 9th, Eddie 10th and Jamie 13th. Overall, the boys placed second in the team event.
Year 5 and 6 girls. Over sixty runners competed in this one and another strong showing from Team Holy Trinity saw the girls win the team event. Individually, Bea battled into 2nd, Florence 6th, Kitty 7th, Alicia 9th, Matilda 11th and Eadie 16th.
Finally the year 5 and 6 boys. Eleven teams of six competed. George came 5th, Harvey 10th, Harry 11th, Ethan 18th, Archie 20th and Jacob 21st. These strong performances saw the boys claim second place in the team event.
Pleasingly all the children gathered at the finish line to cheer on not only their team mates but also the athletes from other schools.
Two team wins for the girls and two team runner up awards for the boys and an unprecedented 1,2 3 in an individual race. Marvellous!
A special thanks to Buster, who was unable to defend the title he won last year. He made an excellent assistant manager!
Well done to the Holy Trinity Cross Country Team. A big thanks to all the staff and parents for their tremendous support and encouragement.
