Cross Country Gold
West Wiltshire Cross Country Event Following on from our recent success at the Dauntsey's cross country, we took our year 5/6 girls, y5/6 boys and y3/4 girls to a larger event last Friday at Stonar School. The races involved running around a 1700m circuit across fields with numerous inclines and descents. The children represented the school perfectly. Behaviour, support and attitude were exemplary.
In the year 5/6 girls race over a 100 runners set off. The race was won in convincing fashion by our very own Matilda. Elizabeth came 4th, Orlaith 5th, Lyra 15th, Maud 23rd and Harriet 39th. The result meant we not only had the individual winner but scooped the team award as well.
The year 5/6 boys were next up. Over 120 runners started. Thomas finished 16th with Theo 18th and Harry 20th. Jenson, Eddie and Arthur also secured top half finishes.
The finish of the day came in the year 3/4 girls. With 70 metres to go Tansy was sat in 5th place but with an incredible sprint finish she ran past the others as if, in the words of Mrs Hayward, they were standing still to win the race. Lulu came inside the top 10 whilst the other girls Flora, Evie, Henriette and Grace also secured top half finishes. Another pleasing day of athletics. Two individual golds, a team gold and group of children who were an absolute pleasure to be around. Thanks to the parents for their support and assistance. Good job, Holy Trinity!
