National Year of Reading

2026 is the National Year of Reading, and at Holy Trinity we celebrate the power of reading to transform every child’s future. Strong reading skills open doors to learning, wellbeing and future opportunities, which is why we prioritise the journey from learning to read to reading to learn.

In school, one of the most impactful practices is reading with children. Story time helps pupils connect, question and develop a real love of books — which is why we invest in a dedicated book premium to ensure access to high‑quality, diverse and inspiring texts.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be marking National Storytelling Week, World Book Day, Poetry by Heart and the National Literacy Trust’s We Wonder STEM project, led by our Y6 Reading Leaders. They are also collecting pre‑loved books for our whole‑school book swap.

We’d love parents to join us as special guest storytellers on Wednesday 4th February at 2.15pm. Thank you to all families who supported reading over the holidays and to our wonderful volunteers — your time makes a real difference.
